Coro Vintage Duette Quivering Camelias Brooch 1940s, Camel

One of the most iconic of the Coro ‘Duette’ s produced by Coro in the 1930s and 1940s. This particular Duette meaning ‘double dress clip’ designed and produced by Gene Verrecchio for Coro is called the Quivering Camelia as the Camelia flowers are en tremblant. This particular Duette design is one of Coro’s most successful and when in good condition these are highly sought-after. They appear in many costume jewellery books and date to 1938-40. This particular version of the Quivering Camelia Coro Duette features the most delightful shade of blue crystal and gold tone metal. The design and patents can be found in Brunialti’s book, American Costume Jewellery. This Coro Duette is in excellent and given it’s age, remarkably almost mint condition. The condition of these pieces is often their downfall as frames or a clip are lost or the piece is damages. This one is exceptional in all regards. The Coro Duette is fully signed and measures approx. 7cm by 4cm by 2cm deep. The brooch can be worn as separate clips when dismantled from the frame or together as a large brooch. Dismantling must be done with extreme care and whilst robust and in working order we would nor recommend heavy use of the parts in order to preserve the condition.
