Belinda Bellville 1970s Rainbow Striped vintage Maxi Dress

This incredible vintage maxi dress is by legendary British couturier, Belinda Bellville, who in the early 1970s changed the label’s name to Bellville Sassoon, this is a rare, early example before the name change. With huge, billowing sleeves and a matching belt that pulls in the waist and gives a long, lean silhouette. The dress is cleverly cut with coloured panels of fabric that create a rainbow of colour. So versatile, as striking worn as an evening gown as it would be lounging in the summer sun. The belt can be adapted to be worn as a pussybow (as pictured), using your own belt to pull in the waist, or wearing it without a belt, relying on Bellville’s master cut. In excellent vintage condition no holes, tears or stains – A couple of very minor faults to the fabric, hidden in the huge balloon sleeves and voluminous skirt.   Estimated Modern Size: UK 10-12/ US 6-8/ EU 38-40 Bust – 36” / 91cm Waist – 28” / 71cm Hips – Up to 46” / 117cm Length (Shoulder to Hem) – 58” / 148cm Shoulder to Shoulder – 15” / 38cm
